Bail

If someone you know is in custody right now, they are going to need a bail hearing within 24 hours. A bail hearing determines if the person can be released pending the final outcome of the case. If someone’s bail is denied, they will stay in jail until the court case is completely finished, a process which can take months or sometimes years!

There are two reasons you need to call me if someone you know has been arrested.

  1. People need to exercise their right to silence and stop talking.
Police can use techniques to elicit a confession. Even when a detainee thinks they’re helping themselves by sharing information, that information can and will be used against them. It can be the difference between guilty and not guilty.
  2. As a defense lawyer I can better advise them on when to do the bail hearing.
I’ve successfully conducted hundreds of bail hearings. If someone you love is in custody right now, you should call my cell phone, day or night. I will be able to speak with the detained person by phone no matter what police agency has custody of them.

And the first thing I will tell them is, “Stop speaking to the Police. Do not, under any circumstances, give a statement.”

Call or text “LEGAL EMERGENCY” to my cell phone. 403.477.1124
